Feel stressed? Need some time to unwind? We have a solution.
ACCESS U will be hosting Power Yoga in the Concourse during the month of December. Sessions will be on each Tuesday in December (7, 14, 21) during two time slots, (11am and 6pm).
The best part about ACCESS U’s Power Yoga is that admission is only $5 and all donations will be going towards providing children in the developing world with an education.
Mats will be provided, but we highly recommend that you bring your own mat if you have one.
You definitely don’t want to miss out on this!
Get excited. ACCESS U will be having a School Supply Drive on November 17 & 18th in the Concourse. We’ll have a booth set up from 11am to 5pm on both days for you to drop off any school supplies that you wish to donate. All supplies will be shipped to Haiti in a container provided by the Oakville Rotary Club.
Here’s a list of supplies to bring: Pens & Pencils, Erasers, Notebooks & Pads, Exercise, Books, Newsprint & Foolscap Paper, Dictionaries & Thesauruses (in French), Construction Paper, Scissors, Glue, Rulers, Pencil Crayons, Marking Pens & Felt Pens, Paint Sets & Brushes, School Bags, Chalk and Brushes, Small Chalk Boards, File Folders, Duotangs, Chart Paper & Paper Rolls, Math Sets
We are hoping that these items are either new or gently used. Regardless, we hope to see all of you come out to support the cause!
Linda’s workshop provided the attendees with an understanding of a lot of media-oriented concepts. Although short in attendance, there was a steady flow of feedback and ideas. As Linda says:
“Looking at how social media has changed the industry of journalism, the workshop investigates new platforms for communicating and networking, while considering old standards for reporting information and adapting professional behaviours to the web. Although the focus of the workshop will be on the changing face of journalism from its traditional style of news-hour stories to the as-it-happens reports of citizen journalists, the techniques about marketing yourself in this new environment are applicable to any field. Personal projects that will be discussed include microblogging, developing a personal website, how to make personal and professional connections online and getting people’s attention for the right reasons. The workshop will give you ideas on how to explore and utilize the web for your own needs and how to avoid presenting misinformation as well as potential legal consequences.”
There will be another workshop on this topic by Linda. More details will follow.
The teachings of these workshops are timeless. Come see what ACCESS U has to offer.
ACCESS U had a huge presence today at Laurier day.
We had a lot of our members come out to show their support for the cause.
Prospective Laurier students seemed very interested, and many are looking forward to participating in ACCESS U next year!
It was a great success!
