ACCESS U Laurier Workshops

Throughout the year ACCESS U Laurier is facilitating a variety of useful workshops for students. Workshops are conveniently facilitated on campus and offered at a nominal cost (donation to ACCESS).

1. Andy Thibodeau’s “Success Keys”

Date:  September 21st

Location:  Student Leadership Centre (in the 24 Lounge)

Content:  Andy progresses through his career to offer students insight into the struggles, lessons, and achievements that he’s made.  As   a professional public speaker who has spoken to 2 million people in 10 provinces, the Yukon, and 38 states, Andy has a tremendous amount of experience.   His ‘funshop,’ as he calls it, is designed to help students recognize their leadership skills and aspire for greatness.

2. Cate Huston’s “In Pursuit of Awesome with Google”

Date: October 25th

Location: Student Leadership Centre (in the 24 Lounge)

Content:  Cate, an associate at Google Canada, will chronicle through her life at Google to offer insight into what it means to be ‘awesome.’  She will demonstrate some of the interesting and innovative things that she has accomplished as a Google associate, while offering sound leadership advice for achieving excellence.

3. Hilary and Marc’s “The Art of Journalism and Media”

Date: November 21nd

Location: Student Leadership Centre (in the 24 Lounge)

Content:  Hilary and Marc will trace their lives in the media industry to offer students insight into the skills needed for becoming a successful journalist.  Hilary is the founder of RQ Magazine (an online magazine), while Marc is a creative consultant, freelance journalist, and entrepreneur in the Waterloo region.  Both of them have an incredible amount of experience in the media industry, and are open to help anyone interested in the media achieve their maximum potential.

4. Ramy Nassar’s “A Night with TEDx Waterloo”

Date: November 28th

Location: Student Leadership Centre (in the 24 Lounge)

Content: Ramy Nassar is the founder of TEDx in Waterloo.  TEDx Waterloo convenes a series of inspiration, academic, and informal talks, which mimics the TED conferences in California and around the world.  Ramy is a passionate entrepreneur who will offer insight into how he started TEDx.  He will be accompanied by a couple keynote speakers who will give samples of TEDx talks.  This is a workshop you do not want to miss!

Participatory Strategic Planning for a Social Enterprise
Workshop Presenter:  Sean Geobey

  • About:  A discussion of a start-up organization’s working values, a process to prioritize those values, and the development of a rough operational timeline.   This is an excellent workshop for those who are looking to start up a non-profit organization or wish to organize an existing non-profit organization more efficiently.

Board-Management Delegation
